New Tesla Kids Book Breaks Down the Tech for a Younger Audience and Might Just Save the World

This one is from the “In case you were concerned about our future and the next generation” department….

We get a lot of interesting pitches here at CleanTechnica. One of the most interesting we got recently was a request to review a book called Everything Tesla, written by kids for kids of all ages, as the tagline says. After reading through several sections, I get the sense that the idea is to educate people about the world, climate change, technology, and EVs in general, by showcasing one of the coolest companies in the world. Furthermore, the delivery method is that all of this is broken down into language that is fun, silly, and visually appealing. So … basically CleanTechnica for kids. 🙂

The authors, twins Aiden and Eliana Miao, are using this book to “make a difference,” according to Aiden, and “use [the power of books] for good by writing from the unique perspective of a kid,” according to Eliana. Growing up in California, the twins started becoming frustrated by the wildfires and bad smoke days reaching new all time highs, and they wanted to do something to help make a positive impact.

I flipped through the book and found it to be fact-based, interesting, and fun. I actually learned quite a bit. It goes into everything from the Octovalve to fart noises, educating kids about heat pumps and “emissions” and everything in between.

The book does not fail to showcase the awesomeness of electric vehicles, nor does it glance over the differences people will experience in their transition from an ICE car.

I think this is a really great approach, and I have a feeling these kids have a bright future ahead of them as part of what the world needs to fight climate change. The Miao twins live nearby Tesla’s engineering headquarters, and were surely influenced by that proximity. They are planning to distribute these books via those driving Teslas across the country, one Supercharger exchange to another. They will eventually return to their old elementary school to give a talk about their book, which has now gotten positively reviewed on one of the world’s largest clean energy news site (ahem).

Here’s a sampling of some of my favorite pages. First, think about the understanding these kids have — do you think most children understand depreciation and degradation of things like cars that have lifespans longer than those kids have been alive? Let alone that something could also simply get better and buck that trend?

How about the fact that there’s a community of people who love Tesla (CleanTechnica included) and they thought to include CleanTechnica in the book as well? This just showcases these kids’ intelligence. (ahem. LOL)

Nice work, Aiden and Eliana! You’ve made a great contribution to the greater good, and CleanTechnica is proud of you and proud to help you achieve your goals.
