BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) today announced new energy vehicle (NEV) sales for April, followed by a breakdown showing the performance of different models and sub-brands.
The Song family continued to be the top-selling BYD lineup with 84,088 vehicles sold in April. That’s up 3.99 percent year-on-year, but down 12.49 percent from March.
Song family models on sale include the Song L EV, Song L DM-i, and Song Pro DM-i of the Dynasty series, and the Song Plus EV and Song Plus DM-i of the Ocean series.
BYD’s Dynasty series of Song models sold 33,759 units in April, down 9.06 percent year-on-year and down 24.28 percent from March.
Its Song models in the Ocean lineup sold 50,329 units in April, up 15.07 percent year-on-year but 2.28 percent lower than in March.
The BYD Seagull was the second highest selling BYD model with 55,028 units sold in April, which was up 57.98 percent year-on-year and up 54.87 percent from March.
The Qin family sold 45,820 units in April and was the third highest selling BYD lineup. This is 10.46 percent lower year-on-year and 21.52 percent lower than in March.
The BYD Yuan family sold 36,667 units in April, up 5.67 percent year-on-year but down 10.24 percent from March.
The BYD Sealion family sold 26,220 units in April, up 44.66 percent from 18,125 in March.
The BYD Seal sold 26,051 units in April, up 82.57 percent from the same month last year, but down 41.54 percent from March.
The BYD Han sold 21,103 units in April, down 1.89 percent year-on-year but up 37.17 percent from March.
The BYD Tang sold 18,455 units in April, up 30.18 percent year-on-year and up 77.26 percent from March.
The BYD Dolphin sold 18,218 units in April, up 80.97 percent year-on-year and 15.20 percent from March.
The BYD Xia sold 7,750 units in April, up 10.62 percent from March.
The BYD Chaser 05 sold 4,340 units in April, down 86.77 percent year-on-year and down 19.93 percent from March.
The BYD e2 sold 612 units in March, down 66.26 percent year-on-year while up 17.92 percent from March.
The BYD brand of passenger cars, which includes the Dynasty and Ocean series, sold 344,353 units in April, up 15.66 percent year-on-year but down 1.08 percent from March.
The Dynasty series sold 163,554 units in April, up 3.07 percent year-on-year but down 7.40 percent from March.
The Ocean series sold 180,799 vehicles in April, up 30.03 percent year-on-year and up 5.44 percent from March.
BYD’s premium Denza brand sold 15,388 units in April, up 38.36 percent year-on-year and up 21.93 percent from March.
Denza sales in April included 9,045 units of the D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), 1,023 units of the Z9 series, 5,018 units of the N9, and 302 units of the N7.
BYD’s personalized sub-brand, Fang Cheng Bao, sold 10,039 vehicles in April, up 375.78 percent year-on-year and up 24.69 percent from March.
This included 4,853 units of the Bao 5, 3,048 units of the Bao 3, and 2,138 units of the Bao 8.
BYD’s ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang sold 135 vehicles in April, down 85.82 percent year-on-year but up 1.50 percent from March.
The Yangwang U8 SUV sold 121 units in April and the U9 electric supercar sold 14 units.
