Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) has upped its bet on the luxury market with the launch of the Zeekr 009 Grand Collector’s Edition, a more expensive variant of its flagship MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).
The electric vehicle (EV) maker officially launched the four-seat Zeekr 009 Grand Collector’s Edition at an event today, with a starting price of RMB 899,000 ($123,150).
This increases the number of variants of the Zeekr 009 Grand to two, and is RMB 110,000, or 13.94 percent, higher than the regular Zeekr 009 Grand’s RMB 789,000 yuan.
The Zeekr 009 is a 6-seater/7-seater MPV that currently starts at RMB 439,000 in China. It was initially launched on November 1, 2022, and deliveries started on January 15, 2023.
On April 19, 2024, Zeekr launched the Zeekr 009 Grand to target business owners and CEOs. It was a more luxurious four-seat variant of the regular Zeekr 009, and was only offered in one trim before today.
The Zeekr 009 Grand Collector’s Edition can be seen as a more luxurious version of the already high-priced Zeekr 009’s luxury Grand variant, highlighting Zeekr’s increased efforts in the luxury car market.
The variant has the same specifications as the regular Zeekr 009 Grand in terms of core hardware such as the battery and powertrain, but adds exclusive elements to emphasize its more premium status.
The Zeekr 009 Grand Collector’s Edition features seven emblems — adorned with 3 grams of 24K pure gold — grace the front, rear, and wheel hubs.
These elements contrast elegantly with the sleek black body and glossy grille, creating an unmistakable signature of prestige and enduring value, said Zeekr.
The golden waistline of the Zeekr 009 Grand Collector’s Edition is inspired by the Chinese intangible cultural heritage technique of mirror black glaze.
To create the perfect look, Zeekr went through a 16-step process that took more than 30 hours and was meticulously hand-carved, it said.
The company used PVD coating and femtosecond laser engraving technology, and 240 delicate lines to create the “colorful black” effect for the Zeekr 009 Grand Collector’s Edition, Zeekr said.
In terms of vehicle specifications, the Zeekr 009 Grand Collector’s Edition measures 5,217 mm in length, 2,024 mm in width and 1,812 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,205 mm.
It continues the Zeekr 009 Grand’s protection of privacy, with the glass appearing solid black in its darkest state.
The model’s dual electric motors deliver 580 kW of peak power and 810 Nm of peak torque, enabling the model to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
The Zeekr 009 Grand Collector’s Edition is powered by a Li-ion ternary battery pack with 108-kWh capacity and a CLTC range of 702 kilometers.
The pack is a Qilin Battery from CATL (SHE: 300750) that supports 5C fast charging and can travel over 500 kilometers in 11.5 minutes of charging, according to the company.
Zeekr hopes the model will revolutionize the ultra-luxury market landscape in China, claiming that for every two four-seat ultra-luxury models sold in the market, one is the Zeekr 009 Grand.
The Zeekr 009 Grand Collector’s Edition is now open for ordering, with deliveries set to begin in June.
Including the Zeekr 009 Grand, the Zeekr 009 delivered 3,672 units in March, contributing 23.81 percent of the Zeekr brand’s monthly deliveries, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In the first quarter, the Zeekr 009 delivered 7,162 units, contributing 17.30 percent of the Zeekr brand’s deliveries for the same period.
